Anthony Vaccarello, the new man chez Saint Laurent

It's finally confirmed: Anthony Vaccarello is the newly appointed creative director at Yves Saint Laurent. The news broke just one day after Donatella Versace had a message sent out, saying that Vaccarello left Versus as creative director. This is great news for Belgian fashion, even though it may mean Vaccarello shuts down his own label (which has not been confirmed yet). I think Vaccarello is a great choice - he has a lot in common with both monsieur Yves Saint Laurent and with Hedi Slimane, who was creative director chez Saint Laurent the last four years. There's the rigid tailoring, there's the playing with androgyny.... I am very happy for Anthony, who I last spoke a year ago, in Hyères, during the fashion festival. Here are some images of his work.
